In my perspective I think that Danny has to wear a silent mask to not let his feelings come out, but that slowly changes over time as he becomes closer friends friends with Uno. Uno also has a persona along with Danny in the beginning and is mainly covered by the rules of the man box. He is the most outstanding in the baseball group, is strong, kind of like the man that all women love. It does change over time though and he starts meeting with Senior learning what is out there and what the truth is about the world.
Danny comes from a much different background than Uno. Danny had a private school and has smarts other than being really good at baseball. His family adores him for that. Where as Uno has two mothers and an dad living in Oxnard far away, a poor school, and a cheap living neighborhood which he has grown up in, but Danny has to get used to this huge change.
I feel that if you don’t work hard you won’t get anywhere. Danny is definitely going some where due to at least his baseball skills. He could also probably get to a good university and become a scholar, but sometimes baseball pays more. Uno is definitely trying to get somewhere even though he is having a hard time getting there.
For me I didn’t really see any important comments that stood out to me, but there was a good one about their families that I can’t remember very well. It was about having a role model in a divorced family. That she had many moms that she lives with and 2 dads.
For me I connect best to the divorced family best. I have had a divorced family since I was 5 years old. It has always been a hectic lifestyle. Every other weekend I go to my dads and along with interchangeable Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on who I am with on the weekend. Yeah pretty hectic and I am not even going in to the Summer. I also understand the role model thing too, but for me it is the one who does the most for me.
I feel that I did well in the perspective of things. I gave my opinion a lot and responded to others ideas along with that. I feel that I could work on the group leadership part of the seminar. I feel that I could have asked more interesting questions.
I feel that one of the best lines in this book would be “A Leopard can’t never change his spots.” said by Senior in MWB. This line has a lot of meaning behind it. You can’t change the way you are born or you can’t change anybody without them trying hard enough.
