Winter Reflection
Math and I get along very well -- to say the least. We are both very logical and straight to the point. Thus I have an easy understanding of how math works and can grasp new concepts with within -- most of the time -- a day or two. I personally feel like Math 4 did not really push my understanding of math this year. I felt like I was going through a motion that I had already gone through a couple times in the past. Exponential growth curves and doubling rate are interesting, but not challenging to grasp for me seeing as I have already learned a lot of the concept in the past. However -- on the other hand -- Calculus 2 was more challenging, but, again, I was able to complete most all of the assigned homework in class.
Math has always been fun and interesting. Thinking about infinity and its relationship to series and sequences is very interesting, but as long as you pay attention to the patterns and lessons it becomes easy. I also really enjoyed the stock game and the making of. It is an interesting concept and I hope it works out as planned. I also can’t wait to try and play the freshmen for fools to make tons of virtual ‘money’ off them in a virtual ‘stock game’. But, however fun it was I didn’t really find myself challenged by math this year and I’m not proud of that.
I feel like I could have and should have done more for the main Math 4 project, but once I was paired with Dylan to do some of the program he slowly took it completely under his wing. At the beginning I was involved: reading some of Dylan’s code and looking for errors and creating some small programs that held values for the stocks. However, after a while I was left asking him what I should do to help and he didn’t know. I then proceeded to ask Kyle and he gave me a small assignment like writing down what should be in the program and delivering that to Dylan.
All in all this semester’s math has been almost too easy. Hate to say that, but it’s the truth. I have not felt as challenged as I have felt in the past. In Junior year I had to work really hard to keep up with all of the work on my head and now that I am back to a more normal year I don’t feel that extra hard push that I miss.
